The Brand Driver.

It sits at the heart of the organisation, informing and guiding every aspect of the business: how it shows up, how it decides, and how it behaves.

01Why we exist

Brand purpose

It is the fundamental reason the company exists beyond making a profit: why it does what it does, what it refuses to do, and what it stands for beyond the services it sells.

Freedom from assessing and judging the work

Their attention belongs on growing the business, not auditing it.

Set up right at the outset

The entity and the controls, built for where the business is and where it is going.

Freedom from having to assess the work

Nobody outside the field can tell good work from work that merely looks finished. Finding out costs them time they do not get back.

To free our clients to focus on growth
and profitability, by giving them
the certainty that their company is properly structured
and properly run to a standard only real expertise can hold.
Standards that hold when no one is watching

For businesses that cannot afford an invisible mistake.

Systems, SOPs and KPIs that hold the standard in place

So they survive whoever comes and goes.

Whatever the job, and whatever state it is in

Setting things up from scratch, taking on what is already running, or putting right what was done badly.

Standards that hold when no one is watching

Systems, SOPs and KPIs that hold the standard in place, so it survives whoever comes and goes and no mistake stays invisible.

02How we act

Brand beliefs

They are the working values of the brand: what guides behaviour every day, and the lens every decision and every piece of communication is filtered through.

We never cut corners.

Quality, continuity and risk are never traded for speed, cost or margin.

We run what we recommend.

We do not advise and leave. We set it up, we run it, we answer for it.

We build systems that carry the highest standards.

Every engagement runs on documented systems, playbooks & SOPs, whoever is running it. A client should never feel a staff change.

We stay ahead of things, not just on top of them.

The risk nobody flagged. The cost quietly growing. The money left on the table. All of it gets raised, even when not asked.

We only take on what we can do properly.

If we cannot hold the standard, we hand it to someone who can. If it is not needed, we do not sell it. Winning the work is never worth breaking the promise.

We do not believe in one size fits all.

Every business has its own working dynamics, challenges and goals. What we bring is best practice and documented. How it is applied is customized around them.

We simplify the complex.

We fit around how a business already works. We take on the complication, and their time stays theirs.

03The organizing principle

Brand idea

Two or three words that capture the idea at the heart of the brand - the unequivocal definition of what the brand stands for. It is the essence of what the brand stands for, the organizing principle behind everything the company does, and what people think and feel whenever they engage it.

The heart of the brand . . .
In good hands.
Professionals who hold the highest standards.
Best-practice systems and SOPs behind every engagement.
Set up properly, and run properly, no matter what.
Every risk seen early, and mitigated.
Every opportunity to optimize, found and raised.
04How we tell it

Brand story

The brand story describes the thinking behind the brand. It is essential for anyone working with the brand to understand and be on board with the brand story.

Every company is in business to sell something or serve someone.
And success hinges on doing two jobs at once: growing the business, and running it.

At SimplySolved, we take the running on ourselves, and free you to grow the business.
We structure the company, run the finance, the tax and the people, and build the systems underneath.
Not to the minimum that gets you through. To the standard real expertise holds.
Set up properly, once. Run properly, always. Held to that standard, whoever is running it.

We never cut corners.
We run what we recommend.
We build systems that carry the highest standards.
We stay ahead of things, not just on top of them.
We only take on what we can do properly.
We do not believe in one size fits all.
We simplify the complex.

For firms arriving from abroad, for owners deep in their own trade, for founders starting out.
For anyone who would rather grow a business than be buried in running one.
Your attention belongs on the business. Ours belongs on everything holding it up.

We are SimplySolved.
Here to keep businesses in good hands.

06If SimplySolved were a person

Brand personality

It describes SimplySolved as if it were a person: the kind of person they are, and what they are like to work with.

The trusted operator behind the business
You leave a conversation with them knowing where you stand and what happens next.

The person a business turns to when it is setting up, strengthening what it already runs or fixing what is not working. They are as comfortable working alongside an in-house team as running a function on their own.

They look at the whole business first, then give a clear view and stand by it. They care about the detail because in this work the detail is where the risk sits, and they make the complex easy to follow.

They stay calm under pressure and are upfront about what they cannot control. They make it clear who owns what, leave the decisions with the client, and keep improving the work once it is running.

07How we speak

Brand voice

It describes how that personality comes through in what we write: how we sound, what we do on the page, and where we stop. It applies to everything SimplySolved writes and says.

4

Our voice in four traits

Four traits define how SimplySolved sounds. Each holds a tension between the strength we lead with and the one that balances it.

01
Thorough, yet concise

We see the whole picture and share only what matters.

What it means

Everything we write carries real understanding. We know our subject inside out, and it shows in what we choose to say. Nothing is longer than it needs to be, so the reader gets the full picture quickly.

Where it sits
Not
Surface-level
Skims the surface and misses what matters.
It’s
Thorough, yet concise
Nothing important missing, nothing unimportant left in.
Not
Too detailed
Everything is in, so the point gets lost.
In practice
  • Write from deep knowledge of the subject.
  • Include everything the reader needs to understand it.
  • Make every sentence earn its place.
  • Edit until nothing more can be cut.
02
Discerning, yet decisive

We know what applies, and we take a position.

What it means

We write with judgement. We know what matters to the reader and what does not, and we let that shape every piece. Our writing has a point of view, and we state it with confidence, so the reader feels guided by someone who knows what matters to them.

Where it sits
Not
Generic
Could have been written for anyone.
It’s
Discerning, yet decisive
Specific to the reader, and clear in its view.
Not
On the fence
Says a lot and commits to nothing.
In practice
  • Choose what to include for this reader.
  • Lead with what matters most.
  • Leave out what does not apply.
  • Say what we think, with confidence.
03
Precise, yet nuanced

Exact in what we say, and adapted to every context.

What it means

We are exact in what we say, and we never overstate it. We also adapt it to its context, so it reflects how things work for that business, in that sector, at that moment.

Where it sits
Not
Vague
Talks around the point, or dresses it up in big words.
It’s
Precise, yet nuanced
Exact in every word, and right for the situation.
Not
Absolute
Exact, but treats every business the same.
In practice
  • Use the exact term, and use it the same way throughout.
  • Let the facts make the point, without inflated words.
  • Say who it applies to, and under what conditions.
  • Point out the exceptions that matter to this reader.
04
Simplifying, yet complete

We make the complex easy to follow, without losing what matters.

What it means

We make complicated subjects easy to follow. We find the clearest way in and build understanding one step at a time, in the simplest words that are still accurate. The reader gets it the first time, and nothing that matters is lost.

Where it sits
Not
Complicated
Correct, but hard to follow.
It’s
Simplifying, yet complete
Easy to follow, and still fully true.
Not
Simplistic
Easy to read, but no longer quite true.
In practice
  • Find the clearest way in.
  • Explain one idea at a time.
  • Use the simplest accurate word.
  • Check that the simpler version is still true.
08How the voice adapts

Tone by content type

The four traits apply to everything SimplySolved writes. What changes by content type is how strongly each one comes through. Use the settings below as a starting point, then check what to lead with and what to avoid.

09How we write

Writing style

How SimplySolved writes, and the details that keep every piece consistent.

Sentences
  • One idea per sentence.
  • Keep sentences short, under 25 words as a rule.
  • Prefer the active voice, so it is clear who does what.
Words
  • Use established business terminology, such as cost-cutting, working capital and leverage. Avoid inflated words that add emphasis but no meaning, such as game-changing or best-in-class.
  • Write in our clients’ own language, including the terms of their sector: a clinic’s patients and treatments, a trader’s stock and margins.
  • Explain a technical term the first time it appears.
  • When writing about tax or law, use the defined term exactly, with its capitals, and give the everyday name alongside where readers know it by another.
Structure
  • Lead with what matters most to the reader.
  • Give the whole picture early, then the detail.
  • Keep paragraphs short where possible.
  • In longer pieces, use headings to show the reader where they are.
  • Ground each point in something real: a figure, a date, an example.
Patterns to avoid

Patterns that make writing read as AI-generated. Check every draft for them, especially drafts written with AI.

  1. 01
    “It’s not X, it’s Y.” and “This isn’t just X, it’s Y.”
  2. 02
    “Here’s the thing.”
  3. 03
    “At its core…”
  4. 04
    “In today’s fast-paced landscape…”
  5. 05
    Fake mic-drop endings
  6. 06
    Dramatic fragments
  7. 07
    Habitual groups of three
  8. 08
Inflated adjectives and empty buzzwords: game-changing, transformational, best-in-class, world-class, cutting-edge, synergy
  9. 09
    Em dashes to join clauses
